Extract images from a PDF
Pull every embedded raster image out of a PDF as separate PNG files.
Mae's Extract Images tool walks each page's rendering operations to find every embedded raster image, converts it to PNG, and names it by page and order. It's the fastest way to recover photos, logos or scanned figures that are buried inside a PDF without re-rendering whole pages.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work on vector graphics?
No — only embedded raster (bitmap) images are extracted; vector drawings and text aren't images and won't be pulled out.
What if a PDF has no embedded images?
Mae will tell you no extractable images were found rather than returning an empty file.
