Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Scanned (image-only) PDFs have no extractable text, so the free path can't recover a table from them. Try Mae's OCR tool first, or ask an admin to enable high-fidelity server conversion.
Will columns line up correctly?
The local engine clusters text by horizontal position, which works well for simple tables. Complex, merged-cell tables convert more reliably with high-fidelity mode enabled.
